Chikkamagaluru, Jun 19: In a heart wrenching incident, a father killed his one and half month old daughter falling prey to superstition at Boochenahalli in Chikkamagaluru. 

Manjunath (27) is the accused person. He killed his daughter after an astrologer told him that she would be disastrous for his future. 

Manjunath said that he was unwell and slept next to the infant, while the mother went outside to wash utensils. He took the opportunity to squeeze the infant’s neck and killed her. He later raised a commotion stating that the infant was bleeding from the nose. 

The mother and the neighbours immediately called for an ambulance. Though the doctors rushed to the house in the ambulance, the infant had died. 

A serious injury was noticed on the infant’s neck. Seeing this, the mother and locals grew suspicious that Manjunath killed the baby. Later it was learnt the he killed the baby as per the astrologer’s advice. 

Police who arrived from Chikkamagaluru police station conducted investigations and arrested Manjunath. A search for the astrologer is in progress.
