Mangaluru: Four held from Suratkal for illegal ganja trafficking

Mangaluru, Jun 18: The special crime intelligence bureau has succeeded in arresting four persons and recovering two kilograms of ganja from them.

The arrested men happen to be Asif (27) from Subhashnagar, Sajipamooda, Bantwal, Kiran alias Kiran Mendon (34) from Kottara, Abdul Raheem alias Ankush (47) from Karbala Road Kudroli and Hafiz alias Abhi alias Mideen (33) from Taudugoli.

The trio was transporting two kg ganja for selling the same to Kiran Mendon from Malpe here who has criminal antecedents, in an auto rickshaw from Suratkal. On getting information about it, Bajpe police inspector, Parashiva Murthy and special crime intelligence bureau personnel waited for the gang on railway station road Suratkal. They saw that three people travelling in an auto rickshaw came there and handed over a plastic bag to a person waiting by the roadside. The police raided the spot, took ganja into possession and arrested the accused. The auto rickshaw was also confiscated.

In addition to ganja and three-wheeler, five cellphones were confiscated. Total value of items seized has been put at Rs 2.7 lac.

The operation was conducted under the directions of the city police commissioner, Sandeep Patil and guidance of city police deputy commissioners, Hanumantharaya and Laxmi Ganesh, under the leadership of assistant commissioner of police, Srinivas Gowda and participation of Bajpe police inspector, Parashiva Murthy, Suratkal police inspector, Ramakrishna K G, and other personnel.
