Because of labyrinthine legal provisions of that country, it was found very hard to bring back the lady's body to India. First eight days after her death were spent in conforming to certain conditions and providing documents to authorities. Sathish, who was dismayed by the delay in handing over the body, contacted Kishore Kumar, president of Kalakshetra Kundapur seeking help. Kishore in turn, contacted former MP K Jayaprakash Hegde.
Hegde got in touch with former union minister for external affairs Sushma Swaraj. Through her intervention and with the support of officials of her department, the officials at Spain were contacted after which the matter was continuously followed up with them. With these efforts, the mortal remains of the lady were delivered on June 2 after which they were brought to Mumbai where funeral was performed, Sathish Kundapur said.
The deceased is survived by husband and two sons.
