Mangaluru: Partially completed works - Nuisance for city road users

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 17: The city corporation here has done it again. In spite of getting the bitter experience of starting the work at the fag end of the summer and then being left with half completed works when the
monsoon arrives, has been the oft-repeated tale of the corporation but it seems the corporation and its officials have not learnt it lessons.

Semi completed works, rocks and sand spread on the road, drains that are open at several places and such other things are waiting to give rise to accidents. At many places the pedestrians do not have enough space to walk because of these works. The story is the same in areas like Ladyhill, Lalbagh, Jail Road, Alake and several other places. In many places, underground drainage work is on while in some others roadsides have been dug but the reason for the same is not known. Several interior roads have become muddy because of digging of tar road.

In places like New Chitra and Mannagudde, the concrete road is being broken within a year since the road was inaugurated.

Executive engineer of the city corporation Linge Gowda is confident of completing all the pending works soon. He said that interior roads would be temporarily repaired now and tar road would be laid after the end of the monsoon season. Executive engineer Gururaj Maralahalli said that under instructions from the district deputy commissioner, the possibility of allowing vehicles on the left side to move without having to stop at Lalbagh circle is being considered. "A NITK team has conducted verification. In a few days we may receive their report, based on which further work would be undertaken there," he stated.

Our MLC is always talking about projects worth crores. But see the actual situation of the city. Only talks, no developments!

Our Mangalore will not become a Smart City if the prevailing condition of roads etc. continues like this.
Everywhere roadsides are dug up that too during this rainy season to carry out Drains and other work like removal of silt etc. Absolutely there is no planning in execution of developmental activities.

It is surprising to see in spite of all the past experiences,MCC has not learnt the lesson yet.It is the trend going on for the past several years that until the last hour, all the concerned MCC department, authorities were in sleeping mode, once they realize that now this is the time for monsoon to start, they start digging the roads very slowly just show that MCC administration is working that too at the fag end of summer just before the beginning of monsoon.By doing so they deliberately create a nuisance for city road users and make them to cry. This is their habit.Road users are the sufferers. They don't have any idea about the pre-planning,pro-activeness etc.Their attitude is like " HEY CHALTE HAI.CHALTI KA NAAM GAADI.AAYA RAM GAYA RAM,RAM BAROSA HINDU HOTEL"

It's strange that our Mangalore mayor is no where to be seen. It's his responsibility to undertake and address boldly all the unfinished projects to safeguard the citizens of Mangalore .

Neatness and good housekeeping is never a culture be it corporation or state or national (highway) level, under any political party without exception!. For a change all the road and related work should be assigned to a good foreign contracting firm. It may look more expensive initially....but upon completion and considering a decade of quality...it will work out lot more cheaper. Compared to gulf countries, Europe and West.....our jobs are way poor and quality is datum....incurs repairs on the first year itself! Funds meant for the project is getting drained. Who is going to plug it???? Part of it may be ending up in election expenditure!!

You hit the nail on the head.... election expenditure!! is root cause of all corruption in India....

Indians are not ready for democracy yet....What Churchill prediction about Indian politicians turns out 100% true...In case if anybody forgot it...here it is ....

“Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters; all Indian leaders will be of low calibre & men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles.”

    -Winston Churchill

Even though it's been repeatedly communicated that the so called Churchill's quote is purely fabrication of social media to gain 'likes', the gullible keep lapping it up. And Langoolji, don't use both 'in case' and 'if ' as they mean the same thing.

My Linge Gowda, i am really sorry but you should understand rains in our part if the town is already due ans this is not the time to even touch the roads for repairs. It is such a waste of tax oayers money. Instead you must have woken up from your slumber and got thos done last month. Please put your brains into right use.
