Bengaluru, Jun 17: The health department has strictly instructed the doctors and para medical personnel at all the government hospitals and health centres across the state to discharge duties without fail on Monday June 17. It said that that they should not avail leave on that day.

The government has kept its hospitals in readiness to handle any fallout of the strike call given to doctors, duly supported by Indian Medical Association in protest against the attack on doctors at Kolkata under which outpatient services will not be available for a day till 6 am on Tuesday in private hospitals.

The commissioner in health department has instructed the district health and family welfare officers and district surgeons to see that the patients visiting hospitals do not face any inconveniences. It asked the heads of the hospitals not to sanction leave for doctors on this day and make sure that they discharge duties on Monday.

Health minister, Shivanand Patil, has asked the doctors to keep the strike symbolic. He has requested private and government doctors to see that patients visiting the hospitals are not inconvenienced.

The department sources said that the government hospitals have been asked to keep everything ready to immediately be able to extend treatment to patients if there is shortfall in services offered in private hospitals. The ambulances have been asked to b in readiness and the staff have been asked to be alert to rush to the rescue of patients.
