Bengaluru, Jun 16: The meteorological department has given a forecast that there is a possibility of cyclone 'Vayu' changing its path and making landfall on the coast of Kutch in Gujarat. Due to the effect of this, there are chances of heavy rains in the state of Karnataka also, as per the meteorological department.
The weather forecast further says that the monsoon, which has entered the state a bit late this year, will intensify in south interior parts of the state in the next two days. Most parts of the state experienced dry weather on Sunday with only few districts receiving rain.
As the effect of cyclone waned, the rains have weakened in the twin districts. Monsoon entered the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu and Mysuru on June 14 but has weakened from Saturday. The coastal districts are experiencing rain and sunny weather intermittently.
Mangaluru and Subramanya received light rains coupled with sunny weather in between. Beltangady and Puttur received moderate rains. The height of the waves in the sea is also reduced due to the reduction in intensity of the rain. It is said that the sea erosion that was bothering the areas of Someshwara, Ucchila and Ullal is under control now.
