Puttur, Jun 16: A truck loaded with poultry feed fell across the national highway 75 on Saturday June 15 at Neerakatte near Uppinangay. As a result, traffic on the highway was blocked for over two hours.
The truck in question was bringing a load of chicken feed from Chennai to Mangaluru. At the Neerakatte bend, the driver, in an attempt to avoid hitting the roadside mud wall, lost control on the lorry which fell by its side. Lorry owner, Rajkumar, and cleaner, Gajendra, escaped unhurt.
The fallen lorry occupied the entire width of the highway. All other vehicles except two-wheelers were therefore stranded at the spot. After bags of the load were transferred another lorry, the lorry was cleared from the road with the help of crane. Only thereafter the traffic resumed.
As a result many buses and cars took Kadaba road to move via Periyadka and Golithottu before moving ahead to their destinations. Heavy vehicles like tankers and lorries had no other option but to wait till the lorry was moved aside.
