Udupi, Jun 15: Through blood donation, we can save many lives of people without spending money. Youngsters should come forward in large numbers to donate blood,” urged by Basrur Rajiv Shetty, Red Cross, managing committee, member of Indian Red Cross.
After inaugurating World Blood Donor Day event, observed by Indian Red Cross Society, Udupi district branch, on Friday, June 14, at Red Cross Bhavan here, Rajiv said, “There is no replacement for blood. No matter how advanced the technology is, blood cannot be produced. Religion difference is made by human, not God. God created blood in human body without any differences of caste, creed, religion or country. There is no limitation for that.
“A person can save more than 500 lives in his lifetime through blood donation. A person can donate 168 times in 42 years. Blood donation is a function equivalent to divine as it is possible to save life from danger. Blood donation is as good as God's service. Blood is produced in the body as much as we donate. There is no problem with blood donation. Perhaps, it will increase our beauty. Young people should be willing to donate blood,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Umesh Prabhu, chairman of the Indian Red Cross, urged the youth to donate blood by eliminating prejudices about blood donation by raising awareness. “In such a programme, honouring blood donors, is a model and motivation for others,” he said.
