Mangaluru, Jun 14: The association of Private College Principals of Mangalore University Annual Meet was held at Besant College Mangaluru. After the business session, the association elected the new office bearers of the association. 

Prof Rajan V N, principal, St Mary's College, Shirva has been elected as the president of the association for the year 2019-2020. He has served for over 29 years at Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar. He was the HOD of Commerce and various capacities. In the year 2013, he transferred to St Mary's College as principal.

An effective teacher, disciplinarian and an able administrator he served the association as vice president for two years. He currently also serves as the member of the Academic Council of Mangalore University.

The other office bearers of the association for the year, 2019-2020 are Dr Narayana Shetty, principal, Bhandarkars College, Kundapur and Dr Aruna Kamath, principal, SDM College of Management are the vice presidents. Dr Laxminarayana Bhat, principal, Besant Evening College is the secretary and Dr Sathish Shetty, principal, Besant Women's College is the treasurer. Prof Samuel K, principal, Crossland College, Brahmavar who served as the President of the association for many years is nominated as advisor of the association along with Prof Raveesh Kumar, principal, Sri Dhavala College.

The main focus of the association is to safeguard the interests of private colleges aided and unaided, affiliated to the Mangalore university. The association intends to resolve the issues of various forms related to the colleges with the concerned authorities amicably.
