Bengaluru, Jun 13: Barring last minute changes, the JD(S)-Congress coalition ministry headed by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy is set beexpanded on Friday with two Independent legislators, R Shankar from Ranebennur and H Nagesh from Mulbagal, likely to be inducted.
R Shankar, Independent MLA from Ranebennur, will take primary membership of the Congress after taking oath as the Minister in the Kumaraswamy government on Friday.
Governor Vajubhai R Vala will administer oath to new Ministers at Raj Bhavan on Friday at 1 pm.
The Cabinet expansion, which was scheduled to be held earlier on June 12, was postponed owing to declaration of a three-day state mourning following the death of noted Kannada writer and actor Dr Girish Karnad on Monday.
The Cabinet expansion exercise at this point is largely seen as an attempt to douse discontent in the governing coalition and ensure stability of the government.
Of the three vacancies in the Ministry - two of the JD(S) and one of the Congress - two would be filled on Friday.
