Mangaluru, Jun 12: A dead dolphin was found lying near the spot where the wreckage of a ship are located near the Tannirbavi beach here on the evening of Tuesday June 11. The fishermen guess that this has happened due to excessive pollution of sea water.
During the last about one and half month, carcasses of dolphins and sea turtles have been found lying at Hosabettu near Suratkal, Guddekopla, Mukka, Aggidakalia etc. The number of dead sea animals found during this period has risen to seven.
Experts of Reef Watch Marine Conservation, a Bengaluru-based organization, had opined that excessive pollution in the sea has been causing the death of dolphins. But the fishermen are complaining that no one is taking their opinion seriously.
