Udupi: Two youngsters from here perish in Gokarna motor bike accident

Udupi, Jun 10: In a road accident which happened within the limits of Gokarna police station in Uttara Kannada district, two youngsters from the city suffered critical injuries and breathed their last on the spot. The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday June 9.

Shayan Shetty (20), son of Sathish Shetty from Ambalpady, who is a hotelier based in Mumbai and his wife, Shailini Shetty, who is a teacher, and Arthik Salian (20), son of Rekha Sagarika from Nairkere in Brahmagiri here, lost their lives in this terrible accident.

Shayan, Arthik, and two other friends had left for Gokarna in two motorbikes on Saturday night. It is said that one of these motorbikes collided with a lorry that was moving towards Mangaluru from Mumbai. The impact of the collision was so hard that both the bike riders lost their lives on the spot.

Both the deceased were friends. They were BBA course students of Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Shayan was the only son of Sathish Shetty. Sathish Shetty had acquired an apartment in a residential complex at Ambalpady whee Shayan lived with his mother.

Arthik Salian's father is no more. He lived with mother and sister. His sister is pursuing MBBS degree course.

A case about the accident was registered in Gokarna police station.
