Udupi, Jun 7: The closing ceremony of the implementation of solar lights in Amasebail will be held on June 9 at Amasebail High School here, said A G Kodgi, president of Amasebail Charitable Trust.
He was speaking at the Udupi press club here on Thursday, June 6. He said, “A joint effort from Amasebail Charitable Trust, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Karnataka Bank Ltd Mangaluru, Amasebail gram panchayat, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL), District Administration Udupi, and SELCO Solar Light Pvt Ltd, towards the successful implementation of Amasebail Solar Village Project has made quite a name in solar field. This was inaugurated by Magsaysay Awardee Dr H Harish Hande Chairman, SELCO Solar Light Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru on April 27, 2017.
“A total of 1,643 houses were installed with decentralised solar lighting systems and 27 Solar Street light systems. This project was implemented in 3 phases starting from May 2016 to March 2017.
“We have been gone through many difficulties to get funds for the project and fought with government to sanction promised funds.
“A total of Rs 2,13, 90,300 was spent on the project. The funds were released in three phases by MNRE 30% Rs 64,17,090, by KREDL 20%, Rs 42,78, 090, and by district administration Rs 25 lac under nasal package. The trust has collected Rs 3,000 for two solar lights, Rs 6,000 for 4 lights and Rs 12,000, for street lights and the trust contributed Rs 4,64,150. There are 1,872 houses in Amasebail panchayat. The trust has achieved 99% installation of solar lights. Around 50 lights have been distributed to 30 temples and schools free of cost by the trust. If any house wants to install solar lights, they can contact us. Still many SC/ST families do not have electricity connections, which are located in remote areas.
“Remembering our journey of making Amasebail a solar adopted panchayat, we have organised the closing ceremony of this project on June 9 at 10 am.
“The programme will be held under the leadership of A G Kodgi and presided by Mahabaleshwara Bhat, managing director and CEO Karnataka Bank Ltd. Sri Vishwesha Theertha Sripada Swamiji will bless the occasion and will be inaugurated by Dr Veerendra Heggade, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala. Dr H Harish Hande will deliver the keynote address.
Opposition leader Kota Srinivas Poojary, deputy commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati will also be present at the event. Along with the dignitaries, many others prominent figures, dignitaries from various institutions, banks and cooperatives officers, representatives, MP, MLAs, zilla panchayat, taluk panchayat and grama panchayat presidents and officials will also be part of the event.
Jayalakshmi Shetty, president, Amasebail village panchayat, Satish Nayak, PDO and Guruprasad of Selco Solar Lights were present at the press meet.
