BCCI Working Committee Lifts Ban on ICL Players

TOI

New Delhi, Apr 29: The Board of control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has lifted ban on rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) players with a condition that the players can return if they leave ICL by May 31, 2009.

The much-awaited decision was taken in the BCCI working committee meeting held in Mumbai on Wednesday.

BCCI president Shashank Manohar has clearly stated that the ICL players and support staff, who wanted to come back in the BCCI fold, will have to snap all their ties with the rebel league.

All the players and support staff won't be given any international exposure for the next one year.

The decision of lifting the ban was taken as the BCCI was continuously receiving the letters from the players and support staff saying that they had taken the wrong decision by joining ICL and they also regret it.

In India Cricket is simply BIG. The bottom line is people go out of their way to watch and support cricket. It does not make any difference to BCCI what people talk. The public criticizes initially but will forget immediately. They will not stop watching the game of cricket...That''s the craze.

Remember one thing that if any cricket body is not recognized by the ICC then they cannot survive. Its surely to doom. So whoever plans to do such tournaments (Be it ICL or ACL) better consult and take approval of ICC, only then it will be a success! Ironically BCCI controls ICC because it is the richest body in the world.....Just enjoy cricket and don''t try to get to the roots of it!

“Live and let live” Why not IPL is considering ICL as one of the tournament by one set of players. No matter which is big gun, may be IPL is included high profile players and ICL is not, but some poor players will get opportunity to expose in international arena. And they could promote to play IPL or any international tournaments with national team if they accomplish something.

BCCI was just busy counting money and did not care whether India was winning or losing, improving or deteriorating until ICL came up with the concept. BCCI saw the money in that and copied the idea and now India is a much improved team - real thanks to ICL. Team India owes its success to ICL !!!

Supreme court should act immediately and should ban BCCIs  demands. Also the other players who are not in ICL or IPL should join to APL(American Premier Leauge) which is going to start end of this year where Sir Richard Hadlee is heading the body.

This is only because of money power that the BCCI is acting like a BULLY threatening the cricketing world through out. They are very sure that the cricketing bodies will fall to their demands. The BCCI is only ruining cricket by being a spolied sport.ICL is as good as IPL is and the players are all world class and its head is one of the best players the world has seen in the name of the great KAPIL DEV. This the BCCI cant digest and thats what one can expect when politcs is merged with sport in a different way.

Nowadays it is better to call BCCI as LALIT MODI, last time when I was going through Daiji IPL commentary, there I have seen that, Lalit modi sponsored S.Rand 100000 to one of the school in Africa, I want know whether he paid from his pocket !!! He is the person who spliced our cricket into two.. Its better to remove modi from BCCI and bring IPL and ICL into one platform, in ICL we have our great captain for all the time.Kapil Dev, He is the captain who brought world cup to India. Now this business man wants to rule our cricket…

Why not BCCI recognize ICL as the latter too is doing the same job as of BCCI.Supreme Court should ban BCCI for being prejudiced with ICL. After all whom does BCCI help with its CROES of income?. Lalit Modi deems it necessary to do charity to South African Schools but may not have found time to see the deprived children in INDIA. BCCI is not a sports body. It is purely political.

You can support team which you like the most/team in that your favorite cricketer plays or you may just support the team which represents your city and then there is no confusion. I can’t ever treat my neighbor’s son as mine. i.e. I may shout at my son before thinking it twice but i have to think before i do it others son hence the same can be applicable to BCCI and IPL and not with BCCI and ICL. These are the fundamental logic in any business. I hope you are better able to breathe now! Daijiworld is just awesome and of course the comments too. Business is sometime not healthy!

This BCCI is dictatorship...!! Why a cricket team formed only by BCCI, shall be called as Indian Team..!! Why cant ICL form a team and say that, they are representing India ... If BCCI is just, then they shall honour a cricketer for his talents and not his affiliations.?

This is the plan of BCCI to finish ICL. ICL is responsible for the birth of IPL.

Why is BCCI black-mailing whole game of cricket while being is the same business ? If IPL can work having split our favourite players into different teams putting us in confusion as to which team should we support, why can''t two parallel teams IPL & ICL operate in India ?

Is BCCI a dictator to dominate cricket ? Lifting ban on players is insufficient. Recognize ICL as equal to IPL - no less/no more. BCCI should not take cricket lovers for granted - if people start to hate the game owing to BCCI''s politics nothing will survive - no BCCI nor IPL !
