Beltngady, Apr 21: Through different pamphlets bearing dates February 20 and March 23 this year, which were found strewn around in Perldarakatte in Tenkakarandoor village and some other places around Venoor near here, the naxals have given a call for boycotting of election. It is suspected, that the pamphlets were thrown on the night of Sunday April 19.
The pamphlets have urged the people to stay away from the polling process, as the election has been dubbed a fake exercise. The pamphlet issued in the name of CPIM Maoist, Karnataka area, under the heading, 'Let us Boycott Elections," the naxals have asked people not to participate in the poll process as it is being held to protect a system that is cruel and aimed at plundering the commoners. Another pamphlet has asked aborigines, dalits, backward classes and minorities to come together to jointly beat back the fascist goondaism of the Bajrang Dal and Sri Rama Sene. The pamphlets addressed to voters of the twin-districts, have asked people to read them and encourage others to do the same.
The pamphlets were spread around shops, houses and streets and the villagers have no inkling about who did it. A person, who saw school children distributing the pamphlets thinking it to belong to some political party, brought it to the notice of the policemen. The pamphlets have already reached many houses in the region.
Police officials have rushed to the village to investigate. The people of the region, who were breathing easy since some time due to the absence of naxal activities, have again come under the cloud of fear of naxals because of these pamphlets.
