Kaup, May 21: Geetha (32), daughter of the late Guruvappa, resident of Darkhas House in Palimar, who was travelling as a pillion rider on a motor bike, suffered serious injuries after falling down. She suffered serious injury to her head and therefore been admitted into KMC Hospital at Manipal.
The incident happened when she was going home after duty hours on May 16 after hitchhiking a motor bike driven by Lokesh, who is known to her. When the bike was passing near Wilson Hollow Blocks at Nandikoor village, she fell down from the bike and was injured in the head. Lokesh and some others immediately arranged to carry her to Padubidri in another vehicle and provide treatment at a private hospital there. At the suggestion of the doctors there, she was shifted to KMC hospital, Manipal.
In a complaint filed in Padubidri police station,Geetha said that the accident was caused because of reckless and overspeeding on the part of Lokesh. It is learnt that the accused had promised to meet the cost of Geetha's treatment. Based on this assurance, no complaint was filed initially. Now it is said, Lokesh has refused to pay the treatment cost. That is why a complaint was lodged with delay.
Padubidri police, who have registered the case, are investigating.
