Bantwal, May 21: “The memorable programme held at St Jospeh Church, Borimar, on the eve of post centenary silver jubilee has given me new inspiration. I have become content after taking part in it. May all the programmes of 125th year be successful,” said Archbishop of Bangalore Dr Peter Machado.
He took part in the Mass and communion day programme and blessed during his visit to the church on Monday on the eve of its centenary silver jubilee celebrations. While congratulating parish priest and pastoral council for monthly programmes held as part of celebrations, he asked to continue them without interruption.
He gave Holy Communion for the first time to children Aishal Martis, Lenora Sansia Pinto, Natasha Mendonca, Olisha Noronha, Rion Paul Martis and Sharon Rodrigues and called them to inculcate noble ideals in their lives.
Belthangady bishop Dr Lawrence Mukuzhi said that his heart is filled by the programme of arch bishop’s visit. “It has become possible by the kind inspiration of the almighty. May the lives of children who received Holy Communion be bright,” he said.
Bishop of the Eparchy of Puttur Dr Geevarghese Mar Macariose said that God’s blessing is necessary to be one in his work. “The celebrations of the church are spreading morals to the society.”
Pakshikere church priest Fr Melwin Noronha on behalf of all the priests blessed the children who received first Holy Communion and their parents. Priests from different parishes in Mangaluru were present in the programme.
Parish priest Fr Gregory Pereira and pastoral council vice president Roshan Boniface Martis, secretary Preeti Lancy Pereira, teacher Mary D’ Souza and others were present. Stany D’ Souza and Eveline D’Souza compered the programme.
The position of archbishop being a senior position, his visits to churches are rare. His visit to Borimar Church created festival atmosphere. The birthday of the arch bishop was also celebrated followed by a cultural programme.
