Bantwal, May 17: Borimar church, Bantwal taluk that is celebrating centenary silver jubilee will be hosting another historical programme. Karnataka Archbishop Dr Peter Machado will visit the church on May 20 and take part in Communion day.
He will be presenting Holy Communion to children Aishal Martis, Lenora Sansia Pinto, Natasha Mendonca, Olisha Noronha, Rion Paul Martis and Sharon Rodrigues for the first time.
Bishop of Belthangady diocese Dr Lawrence Mukkuzy, Puttur diocese bishop Dr Jeevarghese Mar Makarios and priests from various churches in Mangaluru diocese are expected to be present.
“The position of archbishop is a senior position. His visits to churches are rare. In the circumstances his participation in the programme at Borimar church is an important historical event,” said parish priest of the church Fr Gregory Pereira and vice president of parish pastoral council Roshan Boniface Martis in a joint press release.
