Mangalore, Apr 14: The International Institute of Public Policy (IIPP) organized a talk on Personality Disorders by Dr Prabha Shetty recently.
At the IIPP Hall in Jeppu, Dr Prabha deliberated on the various faces of personality disorders.
She compared the personalities and life-styles of people both in the Asian and Western countries. Giving the statistical significance of each disorder, she briefly explained the causes, mainly rooted in early childhood.
She also went on to summarize the various treatment involved and the chances of recovery in each disorder.
Several members of IIPP took part in the interaction. Dr Uday Shetty, husband of Dr Prabha and Dr Sathish Rao, a leading psychiatrist of Yenepoya College also assisted in the presentation.
Dr Prabha is a Mangalorean and a alumni of St Agnes College. She earned her MBBS degree from KMC, Mangalore and then moved to England to earn her DCH – Diploma in Child Health. She shifted to the field of psychiatry and currently she works in York, UK at the department of Psychiatry, National Health Service, Harrogate District Hospital.
