Kundapur: Information commission imposes fine on official

Kundapur, May 16: Through an order, Karnataka State Information Commission has imposed penalty on the assistant registrar of cooperative society of this subdivision for his failure to provide the information sought within the prescribed time limit. The information which he failed to provide pertains to election to Gangolli Primary Fishermen's Cooperative Society, which was sought by G Bhaskar Kalaikar, retired assistant tahsildar, G Bhaskar Kalaikar from Gangolli.

The commission has ordered the fine to be recovered out of salary payable to the official in two equal installments of Rs 5,000 each out of salary payable for the months of May and June this year.

Kalaikar had sought certain details like details of election officers appointed during election to primary fishermen's cooperative society at Gangolli, and other things. His application had been made in 2015. Karnataka information Commission chairman, N P Ramesh, who upheld the application made by the aggrieved person, imposed the said fine for the official's failure to furnish the information.
