Mangaluru, May 16: The management, faculty and students of Athena Institute of Health sciences (AIHS) celebrated International Nurses day .
Dr Theresa Mathias, Professor & HOD of mental health nursing department, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing, was the chief guest. She spoke on the significance of the theme International Nurses day and how to uphold the status of nursing profession.
R S Shettian, the chairman of AIHS presided over the function and wished and congratulated all the nurses who contribute maximum to the health care. He highlighted the importance of nurses in the health care setting.
Asha Shettian, the secretary of Athena institute, Dr Ashith Shettian the trustee, Dr Sr Alphonsa Ancheril also shared the Dias.
Prof Sr Dhanya Devasia, principal, AIHS spoke on the responsibility of upholding the foundation value of nursing and how to make nurses voice heard through words and actions. She also highlighted the ways nurses can contribute for the achievement of the theme.
Rosemol Joseph welcomed the gathering. Merin Jolly and Nikitha, compered the programme. Ashel Benny proposed the vote of thanks.
A short cultural programme was performed by the students depicting the role played by nurses and various works performed by the nurses.
