Mangalore: Ramanath Rai Puts to Rest Rumours of Sorake Defection

Mangalore, Apr 5: The president of the District Congress Committee B Ramanath Rai on Sunday April 5 ruled out the possibility of former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake’s immigration into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).  

He said that Sorake is a loyal Congressman and would never switch over to another party. “It is nothing but rumour. He has been with the party for a long time”, added Rai.  

Speaking to Daijiworld, he informed that Sorake is busy with the election campaigns in Chamaraj Nagar with his NSUI mate Dhruv Narayan. Therefore, he could not attend the programmes in the district. 

Meanwhile, B Janardhan Poojary said that Sorake has put some demands but refused to reveal them.

    Political parties across party lines should cleanse the party set up and see the future on the long term than short term gains which has proved to be counter productive. If you dont' get the party nomination you either cross over the fence or cut each others legs.

    What a bleak political future and weak governance this country will have in the years ahead. Peoples votes are taken for granted. The Electorate must demand for an option "NONE OF THESE" in the ballot paper and a minimum % of fifty percent of the votes polled for a candidate to be d elected. Most of the candidates who make it to the parliament secure between 20 - 35 percent of the votes polled.

    This figure is certainly not representative of the people. A minimum cap of 50% will dissuade fragmentation and multiple party system which today has become a norm costing thousands of crores of rupees.
