Udupi, May 4: Family members of the victims of the double murder case at Kota, and their friends have urged district superintendent of police (SP), Nisha James, to replace the investigating officers involved with the case. They have expressed the suspicion that the officers have been working in favour of the accused.
Parvati, mother of the deceased, Bharat, Manoj, brother of the other victim, Yatish, Hemanth and some other friends met the SP at her office on Friday and handed over a written petition. They demanded the SP to see that impartial investigation is conducted in the case so that the souls of the deceased will rest in peace.
They pointed out to the SP that the report given by the police department to the public prosecutor has lot of defects and in spite of repeated requests to set them right, the officials are submitting the same reports without making any changes, they claimed. They urged the SP to hand over the case to an able and impartial investigating officer to see that justice is done to the families. They also warned of holding public protest if they fail to get justice.
The SP, speaking after receiving the petition, said that charge sheets need to be filed within a time frame to avoid the accused from securing bail and that the report is not final. She said that there is time to file additional charge sheet and advised them not to become panicky, duly assuring that there is no let up in the course of investigation. She stressed that her department will also to try to see that the guilty are punished and she is personally pursuing the case. She asked them to contact her if they have any doubt about the case at any stage.
