Udupi, Apr 3: A Tulu literary camp was held at Hindi Prachar Sabha of Udupi on Thursday April 2.

The event was organized by Tulu Sahitya Academy.

Speaking on the occasion, Paltady Ramakrishna Achar, president, Tulu Sahitya Academy explained that all preparations pertaining to bringing out the Tulu text books have been completed, but the government is not taking any measures to implement the scheme of teaching Tulu in schools.

Members of the Academy have urged the government to include Tulu language in the eighth chapter of the Constitution, but no positive response has so far been received, he revealed.

The Academy has planned to prepare the Tulu study material for being used in schools and also to organize various competitions on literature and Tulu Utsav, manage website and Tulu software. In the coming days, the Academy will implement these schemes one by one, he continued.

The development of Tulu cultural must be implemented from the basic level. People must be aware of the danger caused by the ever-expanding mobile culture. Changes are necessary but it must be limited to positive developments, he said.

Yoganand, Tenkanidiyoor College principal, Eshwar Shetty Chitpady, Ekta Udupi and H S Shivarudrappa, registrar of the Academy, were present on the occasion.

Tulsi rendered invocation. Dr Gananat Ekkaru welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory speech. Dr Duggappa Kajekar coordinated the programme.
