New Delhi, May 2: Wife of Rohit Shekhar Tiwari, son of renowned Congress leader late N D Tiwari, has confided to the police that she killed Rohit as she had the suspicion that he had a son through extra marital relation and he would be the heir to his wealth.
Apoorva Shukla made these confessions to the police as she was investigated by the police for two days in their custody.
Rohit Tiwari was strangulated by Apoorva during the wee hours on April 16 after a heated argument ensued between the two.
In her disclosure to the police, Apoorva said that the extra marital relation of Rohit was a concern to her marriage. It may be recalled that initially Apoorva had suspected her husband Rohit of having affair with one of his distant sister-in-law.
Apoorva further confessed that the lady, mother of Rohit's out of wedlock son was pressurizing Rohit to give share of his wealth to her son saying that after all he is son of Rohit. In addition, Rohit also loved the child very much.
According to police, Apoorva used to travel frequently between Delhi and Indore as she is practicing as a lawyer in both Supreme Court in the capital and Indore district court. She also told that she came across the profile of Rohit from a matrimony site on which she was registered and selected him to fulfill her political ambitions.
Rohit and Apoorva got married on May 11, 2018 after few months of dating. However, Apoorva left for her maternal home on May 29 as she thought that the marriage will not work after a brief stay with Rohit.
Apoorva sent a divorce notice to Rohit in the month of July through her lawyer. However, the decision to divorce took a U-turn as Rohit was hospitalized due to heart ailment in the Max hospital and she thought of giving relation one more try.
Apoorva told the police that, though they mutually agreed to give the relation a second chance, she felt sick while residing with Rohit and his family. She also accused her mother-in-law of being a dominant woman, who did not even allow to change the curtains of her bedroom as she wanted the ones already in use to stay on.
Apoorva also unearthed the fact that Rohit's father has not given any part of his property to him and the house in which they were residing in the Defence Colony of Delhi belonged to her mother-in-law.
During interrogation Apoorva told the police that she is very much aware of what she has done and told the police that her husband was cruel, unreasonable and did not love her. Rohit and Apoorva fought frequently over his extra marital relation and the child. Rohit had even started to boast about his relation with the lady rather than showing any regret about it.
Rohit Tiwari was the son of late veteran Congress leader and CM of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakand, N D Tiwari. Rohit had fought a six-year long legal battle to prove that he is indeed the biological son of N D Tiwari.
