Karkala: Religious Day celebration held at St Joseph’s Church, Belman

Karkala, Apr 29: St Joseph’s Church is all set to celebrate its post centenary silver jubilee on May 1. To mark this occasion, Religious Day celebrated on April 27, with much pomp and gaiety.

Fr Pius James Dsouza, episcopal vicar for religious, Mangaluru diocese was the main celebrant of the Holy Mass and the chief guest for the felicitation programme. More than 50 religious men and women of the parish were present for the occasion.

Fr Arun Dsouza, Spoke on behalf of the parish and Sr Theresa Dsouza spoke on behalf of sisters. Janet Dmello compered the programme. Dorothy pinto welcomed the gathering and Irene Mendonsa rendered the vote of thanks.

The programme was organised by the commission for seminary and religious formation. Gregory Menezes, convener of the post centenary silver jubilee committee, had taken the responsibility of the entire event.

Parish priest Fr Edwin Dsouza was mainly involved to make the Religious Day celebration successful. Assistant parish priest Fr Prakash Dsouza, vice president of Parish Council Alwyn Agera, secretary Favostine Dsouza, convenor of commissions Dominic Andrade, Br Rolwyn fernandes and Dorothy Pinto were present.
