Bengaluru, Apr 21: Places situated in south interior Karnataka like the city, Kolar,Chamarajanagar, Ramanagara, Mysuru and Mandya districts recorded widespread rainfall on Saturday April 20. The meteorological department has predicted rainfall along with thunder and lightning to continue in south interior Karnataka till April 24.
The wind was strong in Shravavanabelagola revenue division while Gundlupet and Kollegal taluks got normal rainfall. The above places in addition to Hassan, Kodagu and Tumakuru are expected to get good rainfall for a couple of days more. Rainfall on Saturday in Tumakuru district was intense, causing hundreds of trees to fall down, and causing destruction of banana plantations. Several houses were damaged.
Ballari, Shivamogga, and Chikkamagaluru which form part of south interior Karnataka may get light showers. On Saturday, drought-hit Kolar district received rainfall and brought back smiles on the faces of farmers. The department said that Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Raichur and Yadagiri districts in north Karnataka are likely receive rains on April 22 and 23.
