Kalaburagi, Apr 21: Former minister and BJP leader, Malikayya Guttedar, alleged that current MP and Congress candidate for Lok Sabha election from here, Mallikarjun Kharge, has amassed illegal property worth Rs 50,000 crore. He predicted that Kharge would be imprisoned after the election.
Addressing a meeting of Ediga community members organised at 'Asheerwada Kalyana Mantapa' here on Saturday April 20, Guttedar said that Kharge will have to go to jail if he is defeated in the election. He said that because of this risk, Kharge has been distributing money to get elected.
"Kharge has looted money that was to be paid to the government by way of taxes. He has acquired huge buildings and property. He did not have so much property in the past and his assets have gone up steeply recently. He is spending money that was sinfully earned, for the election. I request you to accept money offered by his family but cast your vote for the BJP," he requested the Ediga community members.
In response, Mallikarjun Kharge said that he has no objection if the BJP government at the centre investigates his property. He said that if he is proven guilty, he is even ready to undergo death sentence, not alone imprisonment.
Minister, Priyank Kharge, challenged Guttedar to prove his allegation that Kharge family has acquired property worth Rs 50,000 crore. He made an offer by saying that his family will retire from politics if this charge is proved and challenged Guttedar also to vow to retire from politics if he fails to prove this allegation.
