Hassan, Apr 18: JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda has defended his decision of fielding his grandsons as the demand of people and party workers.
After exercising his franchise in Hassan, Deve Gowda who is accused of turning JD(S) into a family enterprise, told media that all eight MLAs and three ministers of Mandya wanted Nikhil Kumaraswamy to contest from the constituency and hence he was fielded.
Meanwhile, party workers in Hassan recognized Prajwal Revanna’s social work and wanted him to represent them, he said.
“We just respected the demand of the people and party workers. We are children of farmers. People may call this family politics but our growth is not in anyone’s hand. We have risen in politics because of God and our voters whom our family has served earnestly,” the former PM justified.
