Bengaluru, Apr 18: Police arrested two suspects who used to follow lonely women and snatch gold chains from their necks and another suspect who used to sell the gold chains here. Vijayanagar station police who conducted the raids have recovered gold chains weighing 265 grams worth Rs eight lacs and confiscated two bikes used for robbery from them.
The arrested two robbery suspects are Chowdeshwarinagar, Leggere resident Pradeep(22) and Kabbanpete resident Manjunath(22). Sunil(29), another suspect used to dispose of the robbed gold chains. The robbers used to go about in the city on bike and snatch the chains from the necks of women.
A special team in the leadership of Vijayanagar sub division assistant police commissioner Dharmendra was formed recently to nab chain snatchers and suspects of thefts in western zone police station limits. The team included Vijayanagar station police inspector Bharath and staff.
Police were able to crack five cases of chain snatching reported in Vijayanagar police station and one case each reported in Jnyana Bharati and Magadi road police stations with the arrests. City police commissioner has commended the efforts.
