Bangalore, Mar 20: JD (S) has demanded for the initiation of stern action against home minister Dr V S Acharya, Pejawar Math Swamiji and others who took part in the Hindu Samajotsav programmes held in Mangalore and here, considering them as political programmes organized for the benefit of the BJP.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday March 19, after filing written complaint with the state chief electoral officer, party spokesman Y S V Datta said, there is a provision to take punitive action against the concerned under the election-related laws.
"The conference held in the city in the name of 'Dharma Jagruti Sabhe' on March 7 was a pro-BJP campaigning meeting. Pejawar Swamiji and Rashtreeya Swayam Sevak Sangh Pracharak Su Ramanna had participated in this programme. In the Samajotsav held in Mangalore, home minister, state BJP president D V Sadanand Gowda, Coastal Development Authority president Nagaraj Shetty, minister Krishna Palemar, MLA Yogish Bhat etc had taken part. In both the above meetings, statements like 'Hindu Vote Bank' which is violative of the poll code were uttered. A statement issued by any one other than the candidate or political parties, can be considered violation of the poll code, he claimed.
As the activities and internal administration of the BJP are controlled by RSS, programmes being held by that outfit naturally should be considered pro-BJP, he analyzed. He also demanded the concerned to put their foot down and firmly decline permission for such programmes, without considering them as religious ones, with immediate affect.
