New Delhi, Apr 6: A woman and her former banker husband Harsh Pratap Singh were arrested for faking various government agencies for 18 months. It is reported that 35-year-old Zoya Khan, disguised as an IFS officer, made fake documents and identity cards to cheat government officials. She faked her identity as IFS officer, UNSC officer and even US diplomat from Afghanistan.
The couple was enjoying their VIP treatment, government gunners and police escorts across NCR towns such as Noida, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Moradabad. She even participated in the election campaign run by Narendra Modi in Meerut.
However, suspicions about her identity arose when she shouted at SSP Vaibhav Krishna Gautam in Buddh Nagar (Noida) on phone on March 23 for delaying police escorts. The cop got suspicious and ordered an investigation and a raid which uncovered her true identity.
The couple was arrested from their rented 3-BHK apartment in Noida Extension's Gaur City-2. They had a court marriage six years ago and hail from elite families. Officials recovered two identity cards as UNSC nuclear officer and a US diplomat in Afghanistan from her.
The police also seized two luxury cars, laptops, phones, walkie-talkies and a fake pistol from them. SSP Krishna had recently tweeted, "No evidence of these two arrested accused going to the PM's rally in Meerut. The so-called 'Afghanistan' connection has not been found. Please do not sensationalize things. This is a cheating/forgery case only."
She executed the crime by creating fake e-mail addresses and using a mobile app that made her sound like a male. SSp Krishna further said, "They made fake ID cards. In one of her forged cards, she posed as Nuclear Policy Officer of United Nations Security Council. She also had a fake United States Department of State card and Afghanistan Embassy card.
"The mobile phones have been sent for forensic examinations. Also, deleted WhatsApp chats and other social media platforms will also be retrieved to ascertain the exact motive," a police official said. Cops are also likely to seek help from cyber experts to find out detailed information on her recent Google searches. "We are investigating the matter from all possible angles," SSP Krishna added.
