Mysuru, April 4: The district election officer Abhiram Shankar has issued notices to various candidates contesting from the Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency to submit proper proofs of their expenditures within 48 hours.

The notice comes after the first expenditure verification of candidates from Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday.

Of the 22 candidates who are contesting in the upcoming elections from the constituency, only 16 attended the expenditure verification. The expenditures of the candidates from March 19 to April 1 were taken into account and the part A, B and C were compared with form 11.

Expenditures of Congress candidate C H Vijayashankar, BJP candidate Pratap Simha, Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) candidate P S Sandhya, Karnataka Praja Party candidate Biddappa BK, independent candidate Anand Kumar and Ningappa BD did not tally with the limitations set by the Election Commission. They were directed to submit proper documents regarding their expenditures within 48 hours.

Candidates who failed to attend the verification, namely B Chandra (BSP), Cauveriyamma (independent), Lokesh Kumar (independent), Srinivasaiah (independent), Ravi (independent) and Asharani (Uttama Prajakiya Party) were asked to submit verification details within 48 hours and warned of action under RP Act of 1951 if they fail to adhere to the guidelines.
