Mysuru, Mar 28: Hours after Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy raised fears about possible raids on Congress and JD(S) functionaries in the state, the IT sleuths carried out raids on premises of JD(S) leaders.
However, it is said that the CM came to know about the raids in advance through a cabbie, who follows politics keenly.
The unidentified cabbie from Nagamangala taluk, Bengaluru suspected raids when the client booked cabs in bulk. His suspicion was confirmed when Mandya, Mysuru and Hassan were selected as destinations.
The cabbie, a die-hard fan of H D Kumaraswamy alerted a leader from his own taluk, who in-turn alerted minister C S Putturaju.
Meanwhile, official sources state that action is contemplated against the cab driver.
The raid in houses of Putturaju, his nephew Ashok which started on Thursday morning is still ongoing.
Similar raids are under progress on the houses of contractors in Hassan district. The houses of Ashwathnarayan, Thimmegowda and Narayana Reddy at Channarayapatna; the house of contractor Abdul Hafiz at Shravanabelagola in Channarayapatna taluk; and the houses of contractor brothers Shivamurthy, Channashetty and Gopal at Mallipatna in Arkalgud taluk have been raided.
A video of a woman JD(S) leader, whom the cabbie informed about political raids initially, is doing rounds. The woman whose face is not shown is heard praising the cab driver for his sharpness.
