Udupi, Mar 27: Former MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, who is also the candidate of the JD(S)-Congress alliance from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, has obtained an interim injunction order from the court against activist T J Abraham over allegations of 'embezzlement'.
In a recent press meet, Abraham had alleged that Pramod Madhwaraj had borrowed a loan of Rs 193 crore from Syndicate Bank, Malpe by offering security security worth only Rs 1.1 crore. Pramod had denied allegations of wrongdoing and had even issued a clarification on how his wealth had increased, citing appreciation of land prices.
Madhwaraj through his lawyer Devaraj Shettigar approached the court seeking an injunction to restrain Abraham and his representatives from issuing allegedly defamatory and false statements or publishing them in all forms of media and social media.
The court, upon hearing Madhwaraj's plea, ordered an interim, temporary injunction, preventing Abraham and his men, agents and representatives from issuing any statements on the issue till the next hearing of the case.
The next hearing has been scheduled for April 27.
