Mangaluru, Mar 25: Yajnesh (19) from Jodukatte, Maroli here, who had visited the city corporation's swimming pool near Ladyhill here on Sunday March 24, drowned and lost his life. This tragic incident happened at about 5.15 pm.
It is gathered that Yajnesh, who had completed ITI diploma course and was not employed, had visited the pool in the company of a few of his friends on Sunday evening. He and his companions entered the pool area by buying tickets. Regular swimmers and those getting training for events get passes at the pool. Although there are trainers around the pool, they usually do not cater to those who visit the pool by buying tickets as normally such people already know swimming.

The swimming pool has recently been renovated and for the purpose it had been closed for about three months. Yajnesh happens to be the second victim to have lost life at this pool. During October 2013, a student from Boloor, Sohan, had drowned at this pool.
Manager of the pool, Ramesh, said that the teenager turned sick within minutes since he went for swimming and was seen holding on to the rod nearby. He was immediately brought out and provided first aid, after which his parents were alerted, he revealed. Ramesh also stated that the friends of the youth immediately took him to the hospital.
A case of unnatural death stands registered in Barke police station here relating to this incident.
