Mangaluru, Mar 24: Former minister Ramanath Rai on Sunday, March 24 said, "It is time to send non-performing MP Nalin Kumar Kateel home and make capable MP Mithun Rai victorious in the upcoming elections.”
Addressing a joint press meet by Congress and JD(S) here Rai said, "Our party high command have come up with a decision to field Mithun Rai as the candidate for the Lok Sabha elections. Since the coalition government came to power, there has been a lot of development works in the district. So far, whichever Congress candidate got elected, they did a tremendous job in the district.
“Nalin Kumar Kateel is the most inactive MP and we should send him back home. People have realised the failure of BJP,” he said.
District Congress president Harish Kumar said, "We have formed a joint election committee under Ramanath Rai. We have to draw a strategy for the upcoming elections. The high command has selected a new face Mithun Rai, a youth leader, to contest from the district. People should support Mithun Rai and send Nalin back home. BJP are surviving with oxygen of surgical strike. They have not done any major works in the last five years.”
District JD(S) president Mohammed Kunhi said, "Mithun Rai has been selected as the candidate for the upcoming elections and this will bring changes. The failures of BJP will make way for our candidate’s victory. In the last eight months of the state coalition government, we have given people friendly schemes and also development works. The coalition government has pledged to defeat BJP. Our achievement and failures of BJP is enough to gain us the upper hand in the upcoming elections.”
MP candidate Mithun Rai said, "I thank all senior Congress leaders for giving a youth like me, an opportunity to contest the elections. While other parties promise only in speeches, Congress has always given opportunities to youth to excel in politics.”
District in-charge minister U T Khader, MLC Ivan D Souza, JD(S) district general secretary M B Sadashiv, Senior JD(S) leader Amarnath Shetty, former MLAs J R Lobo, and Mohiudeen Bava, and others were present.
