Mumbai: Air India Express Bows to Dammam Demand - Direct Flight by March End

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai/Dubai

Mumbai / Dubai, Feb 24: Air India Express has finally decided to introduce direct flight from Dammam to Mangalore.

Capt PP Singh, COO of Air India Express in a communication to Rajesh Sequiera, coordinator of Karnataka NRE Forum informed that Air India Express has submitted the proposal with Airport Authority of India to fly at least thrice week on Trivendrum-Mangalore-Dammam and Dammam-Mangalore-Trivendrum route.

Though the exact date of commencing this service has not yet been announced, Capt PP Sigh has assured that maiden flight will fly by the end of March 2009.

Readers can recall that Capt PP Singh has express inability of Air India Express to fly from Saudi destinations owing to long flying hours. But the pressure from various groups and individuals has made AI Express to redesign their strategy.

Further details on this issue will be made available to the readers as soon as possible.

Let all of us say Jai Hind, Jai Mangalore, Jai Air India Express, whether we are from Riyadh or Jeddah or Dammam or anywhere from Saudi Arabia. All of us know the difficulty we face when we fly from Mumbai. These days competitions are gone such a far away, no airlines are willing to give us hotel accommodations in connection flights.

This is a great news that we could fly directly from Saudi Arabia to our native place Mangalore. Flying from Bahrain to Mangalore is not an easy task to every one of us , even though we are in Dammam, Jubail or Alhasa. Congratulations to all Manglorians and Thanks to Capt. PP Singh and Daijiworld team.

First of all thank you Capt PP Singh, Daijiteam and all those behind this effort/achievement. Riyadh/Jeddah people should know the hurdles facing by Dammam people to catch bahran flight. I believe it's easier for Riyadh people to come Dammam when compare to Dammam/ Bahrain journey and I guess only 25% may be presently using this route. Any way let this happen first, than we supprot/pray and wish good luck for Riyadh / Jeddah route as well. For the time being u have to feel Something is better than nothing.

NRI of Jeddah and Riyadh demanded flights to Mangalore more than Dammam. If it bowing to demand it should have been Riyadh or Jeddah before Dammam. Dammam passengers get flights till Bahrain Airport which is nearer to them than Riyadh or Jeddah airport. AIE wants to get those passengers who otherwise travel by any available airline from Bahrain.

Dear Friends, try to know the facts before commenting. It is not so easy to get to Bahrain from Dammam. First of all we have to bear a lot of traffic delays as there are lot of traffic jams, secondly as the flight from Bahrain is early morning we have to spend the previous night in the airport, also if Dammam people can go to Bahrain why cant people from Riyadh go to Dammam .

People of Jeddah are the one`s in need of this service the most. Dammam/Mumbai hardly takes 3 hours, plus connecting flights to Mangalore without having to wait much, but Jeddah/Mumbai takes minimum 6 to 8 hours, plus more than those hours stopover at the Mumbai airport to get Mangalore connection. However - No complains, but congrats to Dammam Mangaloreans for scoring over the Riyadh, Jeddah Mangaloreans in achiving this target first.

How can we call this as direct flight? It connects to Trivendrum and then to Mangalore, thus time consuming. Why Air India is so keen to have the connection with Kerala. For those in Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia can be benefited from this connection, but Mangaloreans living in Central, Southern & Western region of Saudi Arabia will not be benefited because of the connection to Trivendrum.

Fianlly!!! the dream of NRI Mangaloreans, the dream of NRIs of sorrounding districts and the dream of NRIs of North Kerala including Kasaragod those who work in Saudi Arabia is almost at the edge of fulfilling!!! Thanks to AIR INDIA EXPRESS, thanks to Capt. P.P. Singh, thanks to Airport Director Mangalore, thanks to Mr. Rajesh Sequera and thanks goes to all those who have contributed their efforts in fulfilling this dream. Dammam sector can cover up the passengers from Dammam, Al-Khobar, Jubail, Al-Hassa and other nearest sorrounding areas. But what about RIYADH and JEDDAH? Riyadh is having a very CONSIDERABLE number of passengers. Jeddah is also having the passenger traffic and the plus point here is the Holy Makkah being is just 80 kms away from Jeddah, there will be peak during Haj season and the inflow of the passengers those who are willing to do their UMRAH piligrimage ti Makkah will be also an added value to Air India Express. In view of the above, we kindly request AIR INDIA EXPRESS MANAGEMENT also to introduce the flights to RIYADH / MANGALORE Sector as well as JEDDAH / MANGALORE sector. We hope the financial feasibility studies of a/m sectors will favor Air India Express. We also kindly request the Management of AIR INDIA EXPRESS to reduce the fares and consider the feasible luggage. Since there are no other flights from GCC sectors operating to Mangalore except AIR INDIA express, having no competitions from other airlines, AIR INDIA Management while having their own benefits, may please also consider favouring Mangalorean NRIs in GCC countries in reducing the current fares. Thanks once again to AIR INDIA EXPRESS Management and thanks to Daijiworld.com.
