Udupi: Students Islamic Organisation of India releases manifesto

Udupi, Mar 19: Yasin Kodibengre, secretary, state public relation, Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), speaking at Udupi press club here on Monday, March 18 said, “We have put forward a manifesto by considering five key points education, employment, environment, social justice and human rights.”

Releasing SIO’s manifesto he said, “Important points have been mentioned in this student manifesto. Our primary request is to increase the GDP percentage on expenditure rate over education up to 8 per cent under the recommendation of education commissions.

“Right to education should be extended from birth to the age limit of 18. Through this, every child must be ensured with pre-school education and encourage to grow consciousness, awareness, sensation, health and nutrition at an early age.

“Neighbourhood schools must provide quality education in mother tongue or regional language for pre-school opportunity and for potential development. Schools should be set up in all the areas of the state under the concept of a school for a village. According to the Supreme Court guidelines, as per discussed in the manifesto, in every university and college, student assembly election must be held.

“Presently, employment being an important point under Central Government Strategy Indian Plan, aspirants willing to get training, should be given certificate, stipend and 100% employment guarantee. All government and public sector posts should be filled. Within next six months, filling of all vacant government posts must be guaranteed and through this manifesto, an attempt is made to draw all the political party's attention towards youths.

“According to the Justice Mishra committee, 10 per cent reservation must be given for religion minorities, public education and for students and teachers in institution.

“Campus like Aligarh University should be established in remote areas to get higher education. To preserve environmental integrity and sweet water and to protect environment, there is a need to enforce backwater evaluation. By 2050, the state has to achieve target of recycling water sources, providing fuel, and making zero smoke sources. Through this, the state can bring changes in the environment and economy.

“These points must be added to state manifesto. Preservation of environment must be the main priority of the state,” he said.

There are 60 demands in the SIO manifesto.

Mohammed Sharuk, district SIO secretary, Naseer, president, SIO Hoode unit, and Ayan, secretary, SIO Malpe unit were present.
