www.daijiworld.com Muscat team contacted Ivan A. Fernandes to have his views and thoughts on the workshop and he answered them as follows :

DW team :    Kindly brief the highlights of your presentation, Entrepreneurship : Essential Elements workshop in Muscat.

Ivan  : The presentation is meant to provide glimpses of what it takes to be an entrepreneur. You will see video clips from several successful Indian Entrepreneurs on how they all started and their views.

The first part of my presentation is on definition of Entrepreneurship from various successful entrepreneurs, Global Entrepreneur statistics etc.

The second part is focused on essentials – Entrepreneur traits, enabling environment and the basic requirements for starting a business.

The third part is on my journey into  entrepreneurship – how it started, how some of the essentials were followed and the key elements that led to my success

The last part is focused on Entrepreneurship – Promotion and Support.  Here I will focus on KEL and TiE – their activities and how their support potential and budding entrepreneurs.

DW :   What are your thoughts about coming to Muscat and about workshop?

Ivan : The thought of coming to Muscat was based on MCCP President’s invitation only.  However, the topic is very close to my heart and I never hesitate to speak on this subject.  The reason being simple.  Unless we have more entrepreneurs in our community – our community can not develop.  When we have more successful entrepreneurs – we have a stronger community with more jobs for others.  If we have to be economically stronger, we have to have jobs for every one and this is only possible if we have more and more entrepreneurs.  Charity is a short term solution, jobs are permanent solutions.

DW :   What are your expectations in MCCP's workshop ?

Ivan: There are no direct expectations from the workshop.  If it helps those who are in two minds of getting into entrepreneurship then this workshop could be a good opportunity for them to clear their minds.  Talking to other entrepreneurs solves lot of issues then reading from books.  If there are individuals who need some support to become entrepreneurs, then KEL is available for this purpose.  If there are several members interested in entrepreneurship, then we can even look at starting a chapter in Oman to support them.
