Bengaluru, Mar 9: There is the likelihood of the decision taken by the department of PU education to advance beginning of the second PU classes to May 6 casting adverse effects on second PU answer sheet valuation work.
Karnataka State PU College Lecturers Association has demanded the government to declare the department as one without holidays and extend all facilities which they are entitled to. "Only in such a case we will take classes from May 6. Otherwise, we will stay away from second PU answer sheets valuation work," the organization said.
In the meanwhile, principal secretary in the department of primary and secondary education, S R Umashankar, and director in the department of PU education, Dr P C Jaffer, held meeting with Karnataka Sate PU College Lecturers and Principals Organizations and decided to hold answer sheet valuation work smoothly.
Responding to the development, president of PU Lectuers Association, Thimmappa Purle, said that his organization has been officially recognized. He said that a meeting of district presidents and secretaries of the association would be held on March 12 to decide about the future course of protests. He said that his organization had submitted a request seeking to meet their pending demands about six weeks ago. He noted that so far the government has not convened any meeting. "We were informed about the meeting scheduled at 3 pm on Friday at 7 pm on Thursday. Therefore we could not participate in the meeting. We are not inclined to begin classes from May 6 onward," he clarified. His organization also said that the government is following the policy of divide and rule by holding meeting with another organization.
