Bengaluru, Mar 7: State water resources minister, D K Shivakumar, appeared for inquiry conducted by income tax department at its office at Queens Road here on Wednesday March 6. He has been accused of non-payment of income tax, possessing property in fake name etc.

In connection with undeclared property, income tax officials had served summons to Shivakumar's mother, Gowramma and other family members. The officials have conducted several rounds of hearing in the case. Recently they had issued notice to Gowramma seeking clarification on undeclared property standing in her name, it is said.

The minister went to the office of income tax department to clarify issues relating to property standing in the names of his family members. He was questioned for over an hour. Sources said that the officials asked him to appear for further investigation on the issue.

It is said that the officials have set into motion the process of attaching the property standing in Gowramma's name as she has failed to disclose the source of her income. This may create problems for Shivakumar.

Shivakumar also held discussions with senior advocates relating to a petition filed by him in the high court, seeking quashing of notice served by the enforcement directorate for inquiry. His application is coming up before the high court today.
