Bengaluru, Mar 6: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy flagged off a scheme to provide bicycles on hire in order to encourage environment friendly transport system.
Kumaraswamy speaking in the PBS programme held by directorate of land transport and BBMP said that Trin Trin scheme is being implemented to control increasing traffic density and vehicle pollution in the city.
“The scheme was a success in Mysuru. Bicycles will be made available in selected places in Bengaluru through app. As many as 6,000 bicycles will be made available in the first stage.”
Additional chief secretary of urban development, Mahendra Jain said that places for 400 parking hubs are identified for the purpose.
The facility will be available round the clock. Those who want to use the bicycles should download the app of concerned company and register. Rs 100 have to be deposited. The lock of the bicycle will unlock as QR scan of the app is scanned.
The bicycle can be parked in nearby parking hub after its use. The fee gets deducted as per duration of use. Details of parking hub, availability of the bicycle and rate of hire will be available in the app.
Battery driven e bikes will be also available in Vidhana Saudha, M G Road, Cubbon Park, Indiranagar and Dommaluru. The hubs are located at a distance of every 300 meters.
