Puttur: Fifteen days ultimatum given for vacating unauthorised petty shops

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (EP)

Puttur, Mar 5: The PWD has given an ultimatum of fifteen days to vacate unauthorized petty shops and huts beside state highway and district roads here.

The matter of failure to act against them was discussed in the taluk panchayat meeting. There were complaints that only permission from gram panchayat is being obtained even though there is a rule that NOC from PWD should be obtained before approaching the gram panchayat. No permission was obtained in several other instances. PWD has warned that the petty shops will be razed by them after fifteen days if not vacated by the concerned people.

There was anxiety about strangers opening temporary shopping outlets and continuing them permanently. The people gathering there also used to result in traffic accidents. There were suspicions also about items being sold in such outlets.
