Mangaluru, Mar 5: The renovated Mangala swimming pool has been opened for public from March. More than 500 people arrived in the initial two days collecting more than Rs one lac.
The use of the swimming pool was banned for the last six months for renovation. As many as 117 students and 26 others arrived on the first day after renovation with a collection of Rs 88,540. A total of 248 students and 51 others arrived on the second day resulting in collection of Rs 32,401.
Huge demand for three months passes
Students and people have bought more than fifty passes. A summer camp is being held for students during summer vacations. The summer camp could not be held last year due to filter problem in the pool.
There was scarcity of water also two years ago. The pool is constructed with new technology now.
Another international standard swimming pool
District in charge minister U T Khader said that another international standard swimming pool will be constructed in the city soon. The corporation has identified a place near the city for the purpose.
