Mumbai, Mar 4: Karnataka minister of urban development and housing U T Khader laid the foundation stone for a new cultural complex of Karnataka Sangha, at Matunga west on March 3.
Minister Khader described Karnataka Sangha as one of the oldest and is like an umbrella for such other organizations.
Karnataka Sangha Mumbai president M Kori chaired the programme. K R Pete MLA Dr Narayana R Gowda, Srinivas T Bidari, I M Vittalamoorthi, Pravin B Shetty, Suresh Shetty Gurme, Jagannath Putran, K L Bangera, Chandrashekar S Poojary, Srinivas P Safalya, Dr Suresh S Rao Kateel, Devadas L Kulal, Ravi S Devadiga, Kamala Kantaraj, Ramesh Bangera, C M Nagaraj, Jayatheertha Rao, Manohar Nayak and K Manjunathayya were on the dais.
“Karnataka state will be holding Abbakka festival in October this year. Kannadigas in Mumbai should join the festival,” requested minister Khader.
Office bearers and members of Karnataka Sangha and other similar groups and organizations were present in large number.
Dr Shamala Praksh sang a prayer song. Karnataka Sangha Mumbai honorary secretary Dr Bharath Kumar Polipu welcomed the gathering. Building construction committee convener Omdas Kannangar delivered an introductory address. Vice president Dr Ishwar Alevoor, honorary treasure M D Rao, Dr S K Bhavani and Mohan Marnad honored the guest with shawl, flower bouquet and memento. Rajiv Naik, Avinash Kamath and Surendra Kumar Shetty Marnad compered the programme. Malathi Chandrakanth introduced the guests and proposed the vote of thanks.
