Mangaluru, Feb 28: Bearys Institute of Technology in collaboration with Blood Help Line Karnataka organized blood donation camp at Bearys Knowledge Campus, Innoli, to pay tribute to the martyred soldiers in Pulwama attack. The PRAY (Pain-Relief-And- You) Club and NSS Unit of BIT took initiative to organise the camp in the campus.
Bearys Institute of Technology and Blood Helpline Karnataka under the aegis of Yenepoya Hospital Deralakatte and KMC Hospital Mangaluru on February 27 held a massive blood donation camp at Bearys Knowledge campus, as a mark of tribute to the martyred soldiers in Pulwama attack. In total 159 students and Faculties donated blood for noble cause. Officers and Faculties of blood bank of Yenepoya Hospital Deralakatte and KMC Hospital Mangalore coordinated in collection of blood from the donors.
Dr Mustafa Basthikodi, professor and head, welcomed the gathering by introducing the camp and mentioning the importance of donating blood.
The programme was chaired by Dr P Mahabhaleswarappa, principal, Bearys Institute of Technology, He mentioned in his speech, he said, “Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person - the gift of life. A decision to donate your blood can save a life.”
On behalf of management, the principal announced that the Engineering or Architecture education of the children of martyred soldiers will be sponsored completely by Bearys Academy of Learning.
Saif Sultan, founder of Hope Foundation, a well known motivational speaker and international corporate trainer, was the guest of the occasion and said that, donating blood is a vital way to help save lives. “Along with helping save lives, there are a number of reasons why donating blood is important. A single donation can save three lives. Despite medical and technological advances, blood cannot be made, so donations are the only way we can give blood to those who need it. Every religion stresses on saving lives. Therefore, blood donation camps should increase,” he said.
Ashok LP Mendonca, principal, Bearys Enviro Architecture Design School, encouraged students to donate blood.
Mustafa Addoor Demmale, advisor, Blood Help Line Karnataka, narrated the series of blood donation camps organized in various places and extended his gratitude to Bearys Knowledge Campus.
Nisar Ullal, founder, Blood Help Line Karnataka, Prof Purushothama, head, Civil Engineering, Prof Nithin Salian, coordinator, NSS Unit, Prof Abdul Jabbar, coordinator, PRAY Club, coordinators of Blood Help Line Karnataka, faculty and students of Bearys Knowledge campus witnessed the occasion.
Khalid, student of final year CSE extended the gratitude to all the people contributed in various capacities for the successful conduction of the event.
