Udupi, Feb 17: Dr Virupaksha Devaramane’s fifth book “Neenu Ontialla, You are not alone” was released by Vidyakumari, assisstant deputy commissioner, Udupi district on Saturday, February 16 in Nutnanaravindra Mantapa.
Releasing the book Vidyakumari said, "This is a very valuable book. Everyone must read it. Dr Virupaksha Devaramane’s earlier books ’Swalpa maatadi please', ‘Hogi baa magale’ are also valuable books. He has written about human relationship and building them and about marriage relations in his earlier books. Today there is a need to build good human relationships. Our children are always busy in mobiles. Some marriages end up in divorce for various reasons."
"If children face any sort of difficulties in their childhood, it will affect the development of the child. If a child is living with alcoholic parents it will have adverse affect on the child. Youths today start drinking for enjoyment. But it will soon turn into addiction. This addiction results in fights, mis- understanding. It affects the child in its grooming.
National Association for Children of Alcoholics is working for these children in world level. This book will help to understand the reason behind a child’s failure in education and other activities", she added.
“Neenu Ontialla, You are not alone” is the fifth book of Dr Virupaksha Devaramane. His earlier books like “Swalpa maatadi please”, “Hogi baa magale” are very popular. Neenu Ontialla, You are not alone, helps to understand the plight of children of alcoholics. It comprises of real incidents which writer himself has handled with. Dr Virupaksha Devaramne is currently working as a psychiatrist in Dr A V Baliga hospital, where he himself handles the children of alcoholics.
Speaking on the occasion Dr.PV Bhandary, Dr A V Baliga hospital said “Children of alcoholics (COA) organisations are very much popular in England, America and other European nations. Until now it has not so popular in India. But in recent days many cases have come to forefront of COA. This concept is not so popular even in Indian doctors. Children observe the activities happening around them a lot. In upcoming years mobile will be the big reason for the loneliness. England even has Ministry for loneliness. These books will spread knowledge about COA”.
K Annamalai, deputy commissioner, Bengaluru south division in his video message wished great success for the book and said “Alcoholism has greater effects on a child. This is a rarely studied subject. It is also a different subject”, he said.
