Kasargod, Feb 17: “The country should be set free from Modi led government which steals India’s wealth. Hence, Lok Sabha election of 2019 is important for the country,” said CPM national secretary Sitaram Yechury.
He was speaking after setting in motion Kerala conservation rally that began from Uppala under the leadership of Left Democratic Front. “Farmers are committing suicide. Young people have no jobs. Modi government has become dangerous for the country. The country should be rescued from communalists and thieves,”
“The Prime Minister from opposition is not important. But the country and the people in it are important. The one in progress is a campaign between Modi and the people in the country. Modi has failed in it,” he said.
“Deve Gowda became Prime Minister in coalition government after 1996 elections. NDA created a coalition in 1998 elections and Vajpayee became the Prime Minister. UPA formed government after 2004 elections. Left party supported coalition will come to power after 2019 elections. It is necessary for the protection of people,” he stressed.
“Leader is not important for the country, but the principles are. Modi government has reduced the power of CBI, vigilance, Supreme Court and other organisations. Modi is acting like a dictator. People will teach him a lesson,” he said.
“People in Kerala had elected left party MPs in 2004. It was decisive for UPA government. The left party has taken important part in implementing several projects,” he added.
CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, MLA K Kunhiraman, M Rajagopal, MP P Karunakaran, zonal secretary Abdul Razak Chiptar, K R Jayananda and others were present.
CPM state secretary Kanam Rajendran led the rally which will conclude in Thrissur on Feb 23. M V Govindan of CPM, P Vasanth of CPI, C K Nanu of JD(S), Babu Karthikeyan of NCP, C R Vatsalan of Congress, Shaji Kadamala of Kerala Congress, Zakaria, Shaikh P Harris of Loktantrik Janata Dal, A P Abdul Wahab, A J Joseph and Najeeb have become members. They were accorded a warm welcome in Kasargod.
Sitaram Yechury opined that BJP is politicizing Pulwama terrorists attack. “There is no understanding with Congress in West Bengal. Our aim is to defeat BJP and TMC parties. The left party will be a strong force in Lok Sabha elections. The results of 2004 elections will be repeated. Why is BJP which is talking about equality between men and women becoming a hurdle for entry of women in Sabrimala temple? BJP is politicising the matter to garner votes,” he said.
