Tumakuru, Feb 15: In connection with the incident in which Dharanesh (18) who was frustrated at his inability to get his disability pension renewed had committed suicide, the district administration is learnt to be planning to move against the person who created the video in which Dharanesh is seen explaining his plight, instead of acting against guilty officials.
A person had recorded Dharanedra saying that he had decided to end his life on account of his monthly disability pension having not been renewed. The officials plan to book the man who recorded the statement given by Dharanesh by treating it as abetment to suicide. Deputy commissioner of the district, Dr K Rakesh Kumar, feels that the person who recorded the video could have convinced Dharanesh against ending his life. There of suspicion of he having instigated the youngster to commit suicide. If the witnesses at the spot are questioned by the police, truth will come out, he feels. It is said that government officials suspect that this person would have instigated the differently abled youth to end life.
It is said that Dharanesh, whose disability pension had to be renewed on his attaining majority, reportedly did not get proper response when he visited tahsildar's office for this purpose on February 11. He went back to Beladhara village, and was shedding tears at a platform near the bus stand, and when locals questioned him, he lamented the fact that the disability pension would be stopped as his family income now has crossed Rs 15,000 per annum. This statement was captured by a passerby on mobile and then shared. Dharanendra had ended his life at his home in Lingayyana Palya village the same evening.
The officials say that the office staff were not at fault and Dharanendra was guided to apply for income certificate in Nada Kacheri.
The deputy commissioner said that the officials will not be acted against. He said that a letter had been written from the district treasury to network management centre of the central office on January 18, 2019, asking them to automatically renew the monthly disability pension of Dharanendra after October 31, 2018. He said that this would not have been acted upon because of network problem there. He added that he will right to the principal secetary of revenue department on the issue.
